Master thesis or internship at the SNP&SEQ Technology platform
As a part of the National Genomics Infrastructure (NGI) at the Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab, www.scilifelab.se), the SNP&SEQ Technology Platform in Uppsala provides SNPgenotyping and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology to academic researchers in and outside of Sweden (www.sequencing.se). Next generation sequencing instruments at the platform include the Illumina MiSeq, HiSeq2500, and HiSeqX machines.

Do you like building beautiful as well as functional things? Do you want to be a part of the genomics revolution? We are looking for a highly motivated individual to develop a web frontend to our quality control database. This task can be carried out either as a 5 month internship or as a master thesis project depending on the wishes of the candidate.
As a successful candidate you’ll be joining a creative team of bioinformaticians and system developers that develop solutions for handling the petabyte scale data generated by our sequencing instruments.
The goal of the project is to provide a dynamic interface where longitudinal quality control data can be queried, visualized and exported. This will include reimplementing a number of features currently available in a working prototype, as well as expanding into new functionality.
The SNP&SEQ Technology platform is looking for a person with a high degree of selfmotivation, attention to detail, sense of responsibility, and ability to work both independently and in a team. Emphasis will be put on personal qualities such as a positive attitude and ability to cooperate.
Knowledge in molecular biology and sequencing technologies is not required but could be regarded as a merit. Proficiency in Swedish is desired, but not required.
