About the Thesis

In recent years it has been common to both produce and consume 360 video. Most consumers today experience it from handheld devices such as smartphones or tablets. However, the most immersive experience of 360 videos are consumed using a VR HMD, where the video surrounds you and creates the illusion of being present at the place and time where it was captured. This thesis investigates how users are focusing their attention in a 360 video. This data is interesting to the creators of the video and could eventually result in guidelines for how to capture 360 videos in general. To visualize the user focus, development and capturing of a heatmap video which can also be displayed as a layer on top of the 360 video.
