Beskrivning
Loudspeaker array beamforming algorithms are often evaluated through idealized simulations that do not fully represent physical systems. Driver differences, frequency-dependent sound radiation, acoustic leakage and room reflections can all affect performance. This thesis at Axis Communications will examine these imperfections and determine how they influence beamforming algorithms, both separately and in combination.
The assignment
- Experimentally characterize a loudspeaker array, including driver variations, directional radiation patterns and acoustic leakage between elements.
- Assess how individual imperfections affect beam focus and algorithm robustness.
- Compare theoretical predictions with measurements to identify the most influential design factors.
- Explore and evaluate calibration approaches and recommend suitable methods.
Who we are looking for
- Master’s students, preferably in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Audio Technology or Acoustics.
- Strong interest in acoustics, audio signal processing and experimental validation.
- Affiliation with a Swedish university or university college, either through regular enrolment or an exchange programme.
- Two students applying together as a pair.
What we offer
- Opportunity to agree on and adapt the proposed objectives together with Axis to reflect your interests and the development of the thesis.
- An open, friendly and collaborative working culture at an international technology company.
