Beskrivning

Radar systems need algorithms that can make sense of objects in complex, real-world environments. This master's thesis at Axis Communications explores ways to improve radar detection, classification, interpretation or tracking. You will define the research question together with the Radar Algorithms team, drawing on your interests and academic background.

The assignment

  • Agree on a research question and project scope with the team.
  • Explore a topic such as radar classification and point-cloud analysis, annotation and alignment across sensors, multipath reflections, or radar-based control of pan-tilt-zoom cameras.
  • Depending on the selected topic, review existing research and identify limitations in current methods.
  • Analyse real-world radar measurements and, where relevant, camera data.
  • Design, implement and evaluate algorithms, documenting their performance and limitations.

Who we are looking for

  • Master's student in Engineering Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Affiliated with a Swedish university or university college, either directly or through an exchange programme.
  • Relevant knowledge in areas such as machine learning, computer vision or robotics.
  • Experience using Python and analysing data.
  • Interest in AI, sensor fusion, radar technology and autonomous perception.
  • Able to communicate in English, which is the working language of the thesis.
  • Applications from pairs of students are preferred; candidates who do not meet every listed qualification are still welcome to apply.

What we offer

  • Supervision by a Radar Algorithm Developer in the Lund team.
  • Opportunity to shape the thesis around your interests and strengths together with the team.
  • Access to real-world radar data for algorithm development and evaluation.
  • A friendly, open workplace that values collaboration and continued learning.
