Thesis – Voice Interaction for Intercom Devices

This thesis explores how intercom software could understand and generate speech when nobody answers a call. It also considers ways to make intercom communication more accessible to people with hearing or visual impairments. The specific research question will be developed together with Axis based on the student's interests.

The assignment

• Agree on a thesis focus within avatar lip-syncing, transcription in noisy conditions, resource-efficient speech synthesis, prosody modeling, or real-time language identification.
• Potential projects include creating a lightweight model for predicting speech rhythm and intonation from text or developing a real-time speech-processing pipeline for expressive avatars.
• Other possible directions include robust call transcription and language detection that enables immediate responses in the language being spoken.

Who we are looking for

• Bachelor's or master's student in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline.
• Affiliated with a Swedish university or university college, either through regular enrollment or an exchange program.
