Masters Thesis Student - Oligonucleotide

This master’s thesis at Cytiva investigates new solid supports for oligonucleotide synthesis. The project aims to develop and identify robust support materials and improve process conditions, with a strong emphasis on laboratory-scale organic chemistry.

The assignment

• Map and assess existing oligonucleotide workflows, covering solid-phase synthesis, purification and analysis.
• Prepare promising solid-phase support candidates for different oligonucleotide synthesis applications.
• Plan and carry out experiments to improve reaction conditions.
• Use statistical methods, such as design of experiments and multivariate analysis, to optimize processes.
• Work with colleagues across different disciplines.
• Record experimental findings and communicate results through written reports and oral presentations.

Who we are looking for

• Currently pursuing a master’s degree in chemical engineering, biotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences or a related subject.
• Motivated, attentive to detail and enthusiastic about practical chemistry laboratory work.
• Experience with oligonucleotide synthesizers such as ÄKTA, HPLC, LC-MS or UV spectroscopy is an advantage.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Able to work in English and Swedish.
