Master Thesis: Geographical segmentation
Master Thesis – Traceable geographical segmentation of product portfolio in deliver domain.
About this opportunity
We have an excellent opportunity for two master students to join our experts and research on a thesis project.
The ICT industry is in the beginning of a game shifting transformation due to the Geopolitical landscape, where it is essential for all parties in the value chains to find sustainable ways to adopt to the new reality. As regulatory authorities, governments and trade unions are re-shaping the playfield for the industry – everyone is looking for ways to both cope with conflicting requirements, maintain efficiency and ideally turn challenges into opportunities.
Ericsson has a global product portfolio and a global supply chain presence faced with challenging business environments due to increasing geopolitical attention on the ICT industry. The uncertainty of the world leads to mitigation activities along the entire value chain that becomes complex and costly. For a cost-efficient product portfolio, it is essential to secure a resilient supply chain portfolio that ensures both legal compliancy and maintained profitable operations despite conflicting market requirements.
What you will do

Through your research, you will bring together perspectives from academia, similar events in other industries and real-life examples from the Ericsson ways of working to develop your framework for how the Industry and Ericsson could face the new industry challenges in efficient ways. Expected results include recommendations on proactive and reactive actions to take in relation to all players in the ICT value chains.
The thesis work is envisioned to include, but not limit to, the following activities:
Investigate, categorize and correlate geopolitical requirements with impact on the end-to-end ICT Value Chains.
Investigate different kinds of strategies for impacted business capability areas (processes, system support, data and competence) needed to address the respective requirements with focus on balancing resilience, flexibility, and cost efficiency throughout the value chains.
Identify cost drivers and develop a business impact assessment framework for evaluating strategic options in relation to different geo requirements and geopolitical control mechanisms at play.
Benchmark with academia, other industries, and other companies.
Analyze findings and conclude in recommendations for the industry, as well as for Ericsson.
