Beskrivning
QUIC supports secure, low-latency Internet communication and is used for HTTP/3 as well as emerging media applications. Its congestion control mechanisms influence performance, especially when applications combine concurrent streams or real-time encoding. This thesis at Ericsson will compare SCREAMv2 and BBRv3 with existing congestion control algorithms, focusing on mobile networks and tunnelling environments such as VPNs.
The assignment
- Integrate and validate SCREAMv2 and BBRv3 in two QUIC implementations written in Rust and Python.
- Measure and compare algorithm and implementation performance across different network conditions.
- Run experiments in emulated and simulated networks, including shallow-buffer L4S environments, using relevant application traffic patterns.
- Explore improvements to any limitations or problems found, if time permits.
Who we are looking for
- Master’s student in Computer Science, Control Systems, Signal Processing or a related discipline.
- Experience programming in both Python and Rust.
- Basic knowledge of IP networking and transport-layer protocols, including TCP and QUIC.
What we offer
- An opportunity to apply technical skills to challenging problems alongside a team of innovators.
- A collaborative environment that encourages exploring new technical solutions.
