Beskrivning
CI/CD platforms automate software builds, tests and delivery, but differ in their flexibility, usability and operational demands. This thesis explores how AI can support the full pipeline lifecycle, from implementation and migration to monitoring and maintenance. It will compare platforms using experimental proof-of-concept implementations rather than production-ready systems.
The assignment
- Implement an end-to-end CI/CD pipeline and migrate an equivalent setup to one or more other platforms, evaluating the effort and challenges involved.
- Explore AI support for interpreting platform-specific configurations and translating pipelines between technologies.
- Investigate how AI can analyse pipeline runs, logs and configurations to identify issues, security concerns and likely failure causes, and recommend actions.
- Compare platforms' integration with AI tools, including ready-made capabilities and the need for custom interfaces.
- Evaluate AI as an advisory tool rather than an autonomous pipeline manager; batch analysis and analysis triggered by failures are within scope.
- Keep the application used to exercise the pipelines outside the main evaluation. Potential technologies include Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Docker/Podman, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure and AI/LLM APIs.
