Beskrivning
Spacecraft propulsion valves must combine dependable operation with low weight and efficient performance. OHB Sweden is exploring a new valve concept, and this thesis will help establish its requirements, assess design options, and develop an initial engineering definition. Prototype development and testing may also be included, depending on progress and the agreed scope.
The assignment
- Identify relevant requirements and analyse the valve's intended functions to define the product.
- Compare potential concepts and technical design solutions.
- Carry out preliminary sizing and modelling of key components and operating conditions.
- Evaluate trade-offs between performance, reliability, ease of manufacture, weight, and power use.
- Produce an initial engineering design.
- If time and scope allow, design, manufacture, assemble, and test a proof-of-concept prototype.
Who we are looking for
- Master's student in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering, engineering physics, applied physics, or a related engineering field.
- Prior experience in CAD, simulation, product development, testing, or modelling is advantageous, but not essential.
What we offer
- A place within OHB Sweden's propulsion team, collaborating closely with experienced engineers.
- Practical experience of hardware development for space applications.
- An opportunity to contribute to propulsion technology for future missions alongside engineers involved in ongoing and upcoming space projects.
Practical details
Location: Kista. The position is intended for one Master's student. Start date, duration, and application deadline are not specified.
Förkunskapskrav
Applicants should be Master's students in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering, engineering physics, applied physics, or a related engineering discipline. Experience with CAD, simulation, product development, testing, or modelling is beneficial but not required.
