Beskrivning
Eddy current testing detects defects in conductive materials by measuring changes in the impedance of an inductive coil. Syntronic has helped develop an instrument whose PLL-based oscillator, operating between 300 Hz and 1 MHz, introduces signal noise through frequency instability. This thesis aims to improve the instrument’s signal-to-noise ratio, potentially enabling the detection of smaller defects.
The assignment
- Assess the existing oscillator’s performance and limitations, and investigate possible causes of its frequency instability.
- Develop and implement improvements to the current design or alternative oscillator architectures with greater frequency stability.
- Measure how the proposed solution affects the overall performance of the eddy current testing instrument.
Who we are looking for
- Knowledge of and interest in electronics, especially analog circuits, filter design and calculations, operational amplifiers, ADC/DAC solutions, and measurement techniques.
- Hands-on experience with schematic design, PCB layout, and soldering is an advantage.
- Good command of both Swedish and English.
- Ability to work primarily at the office associated with the project.
What we offer
- On-site support during the thesis project.
Practical details
Location: Gävle, with most work expected to take place at the office. Submit a CV, preferably accompanied by a personal letter explaining your motivation for completing your thesis at Syntronic. Applications are assessed continuously, and the position may be filled before the application deadline.
Förkunskapskrav
Applicants should have knowledge of and an interest in electronics, particularly analog electronics, filter design and calculations, operational amplifiers, ADC/DAC solutions, and measurement technology. Good Swedish and English skills are required. Experience with schematic design, PCB layout, and soldering is meritorious. Most of the work should be carried out at the project office.
